Wikipedia | Launched in 2001, Wikipedia is the people's encyclopaedia in that it contains information and entries submitted by internet users and not some university boffin. It has become the major online resource for global knowledge, with nearly eight million articles written in 253 languages. |

Snopes | Snopes is the site you should go to if you receive an email giving you a dire warning about something or other and then urging you to pass the information on to everybody in your address book. It allows you to check the truth of a story before sending it out to your friends only to be told later it is completely false and you are left with egg all over your face. |

The Internet Movie Database | This is the most complete movie guide ever with up-to-the-minute movie news, actor and filmmaker bios. It has a great index of every aspect of every film and TV show you can remember. |

WebMD | WebMD is a great replacement for your friendly GP. It offers tips for everything from exercise to heart health in layman's terms and this Internet doc is the No. 1 go-to spot for quick self-diagnosis. Remember, though, WebMD is not a replacement for a real physician—not yet, at least. |

Solving Crossword Puzzles Online |
This website allows you to quickly find words matching a pattern. Use "." for unknown letters; for the known letters, you may use upper- or lowercase. (Ignore any spaces.) E.g., enter "fl..e." to find all six-letter words that start with "fl" and have an "e" in fifth position. Words must be at least 3 letters long, and at least one letter must be known. |
